Lord, I pray from day to day
\nTo help me understand
\nHow Americans view their heroes
\nAnd how they judge a man!<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n


\nIf being someone famous
\nIs looked upon with awe,
\nSomething’s wrong here with our values
\nWhat are we fighting for?<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m in the military
\nAnd proud of what I do
\nBut I need to feel some strength and love
\nThat’s why I pray to you.<\/span><\/b><\/span>
\n <\/b><\/p>\n

Some of our families left us
\nAnd now as years have passed
\nI feel the burden and the stress
\nFor each day could be our last!<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m in the field of combat
\nWith bullets surrounding me,
\nThere are few that care
\nfor those who’ve died
\nProtecting those born free!<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m asking for some comfort
\nSome support, and one thing more
\nTo get RESPECT and HONOR
\nFrom the Americans we fought for!<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

You and I are the heroes
\nfighting for our land to be free
\nAnd ‘tho no one has heard our names,
\nwe’re the heroes, you and me!<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Our awards weren’t televised,
\nno speech with tears in our eyes
\nWhy is our country too blind to see
